The Open Space 1=3 residential house, designed by Lulu Cheng, stands out with its highly open and flexible space. The design aims to meet the expectations of the DINK (Double Income, No Kids) house owners, who desire a living environment that reflects their modern and dynamic lifestyle.
The house is divided into three spaces: the living area, the lounge, and the bedroom, all connected in a straight line. The lounge, strategically placed in the middle, serves as a separator between the public greeting area and the private living space. This arrangement allows for a smooth flow between the different areas of the house.
One of the key features of the Open Space 1=3 design is the concept of 1=3, which is realized through the multi-level space. This concept emphasizes the idea that one space can serve multiple purposes, providing flexibility and adaptability to the residents. The materials used in the design, such as rough stone, warm antique wood, and cork, create a modern and natural atmosphere, adding to the overall aesthetic appeal.
The color palette chosen for the Open Space 1=3 design is sedate and sophisticated, contributing to a Yara lifestyle. The combination of the materials, colors, and layout creates a harmonious and inviting living space.
Throughout the design process, constant discussion and planning were conducted to overcome any obstacles and ensure that the final result met the expectations of the DINK house owners. The collaboration between the designer and the users played a crucial role in the realization of the Open Space 1=3 design.
The Open Space 1=3 design project started in December 2017 and was completed in June 2018. It is located in Taichung City, Taiwan. The design incorporates spatial planning and organization to create harmonious spaces that seamlessly transition from indoors to outdoors. The furniture and decorations chosen for the design provide a distinctive and unique way of living.
The Open Space 1=3 design was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2019. This prestigious award recognizes designs that exhibit outstanding creativity and resourcefulness, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology. The Open Space 1=3 design contributes to quality of life improvements, making the world a better place.
